I don't like that the comments section is below a list of 'related articles'. I know you have the 'jump to comments' button but I like to see the comments directly below the article and in reality, the 'related articles' are often quite old and sometimes hardly related at all.
Otherwise, comment system is great.
I agree with Jesse, I miss the comments being directly below the story. I think it encouraged more discussion.
Agree with JesseJenkins
a) comments directly under the story.
b) hand picking related posts would be splendid, otherwise ditch them, or shorten them up. a lot. without the photos.
c) when authors respond, they should add their own comment, not edit someone else's!
Make that three for the "comments should go next to the article" vote. Good rule of UI design is to keep related things together.
The comments are more important than the related articles. Agree with other commenters. I read regularly, so I see the same "related articles" over and over.
i agree with JJ and Sean - put the related article BELOW the comments section
Ditto.
Agree with all the above. Especially about the 'related articles' being very out of date.
I have gotten used to clicking on the link to jump directly to the comments, which has the side effect that I do not notice the 'What's Related' posts very often.
Typekey integration is nice, even though this is the only site I use it with!
My only suggestion would be that comments by the author of the post, or anyone involved in it, should be highlighted/outlined or otherwise made much more obvious as to who is responding.

Comments directly below article. Yep.
How 'bout only showing titles of related articles, as well, like on most other news sites.
I agree with keeping the comments with the original and moving or not having related articles, and I like the idea of having related article titles only and if you want to read one click on it.
I voted for downright bad. Not because there's anything wrong with the comment system itself, just its location as other have mentioned.
While we're all complaining, enough of the self-promotion please. Mention the awards once, if that, isn't the big image on the side [more than] enough?
I hate visiting daily only to see pleas for votes/nominations/whatever..
Thanks for all the comments!
we'll work on some changes soon.
Graham
In addition to the above comments, which I agree with, I would also add that the Typekey system doesn't seem to work very well. I have to sign in nearly every time I post, even though I click on the "keep me signed in for 2 weeks" box on the Typekey website. And sometimes I get automatically logged out before I finish writing a post, so, without my knowing it, the post gets submitted as "anonymous" (delaying the post, and leaving my name off of it). It's frustrating.
However, I have to say the folks who comment here are great. So many people put their heart into making these news items really informative, both on the official side and on the unwashed masses side. Thanks!
I agree that the comments should be directly below the posts. However, I really like the related posts (with the pictures, and even if they're not strictly related) as it gives me a chance to read articles I may have missed.
The polls never seem to have an option that reflects my true feelings.
Keep up the good work. I like the way you take the time to ask us how we feel...
I much agree with everyone else. It's quite obnoxious that the comments are below related articles.
it would be nice to be able to edit or delete posts.
also, maybe a forum would be cool. there is so much great input on this site. this kind of format on this graffiti site, where people comment on images, is very conducive to dialogue. i've kept up on a number of sites dealing with the same subject matter over the years but this one became the premier site i believe mainly because of the format.
i hate all the ads above the comments, if you click to read whole story u should get comments immediately below too. If you click on comments to read it's pretty slow and sometimes chokes when you try to get back the full page of TH entries (Firefox)
if not a forum it would be nice to have a way of keeping track of your posts. you could log in and there could be a list of your posts with an indication of if there were any new posts added to the thread. i think this would encourage more discussion on TH in general and on the older TH posts. If i've made a comment a week ago i'm usually not apt to dig around and see if there has been any more input made.
