But unlike a CD, these drives can be erased and re-used (similar to a floppy). The burned CD-ROM would wind up in the landfill.

CDs are not reusable, though, and the USB drives are.

I agree, they are much better than CDs

How many useless CDs do you now have?

    Where can you recycle them?

    This is much better

who cares about branding, logos on the case? if it works after the erase process, it's fine. or apply a small sticker with Your logo or name...

As a personal storage device, nothing beats 'em - esp when you find yourself in some basement with no wireless and you need to swap some info from laptop to laptop (or quit your job and pinch all the contact info) - but I agree with TreeHug, sending press info via USB sticks seems a complete waste of cash, resources.

I was wondering how you go about getting these thumb drives from all these companies and which companies actually offer them. Kind of like a cheat sheet so I can request info from these companies to get the thumb drives. Thank you for your help.

Are we assuming these can be rewritten?

  • Adam · 4 years ago

I am assuming yes. I got one from Lexus a while back that was able to be rewritten. Unfortunately it is only a 16 MB one.
